Things I Need To Do To Be Successful
A list of things I feel like I need to accomplish to feel successful 🙂
The first thing I want to address is the definition of successful and how to be successful. To me success is doing something you enjoy and the end results of doing that make you feel accomplished. Everyone has their own definition of success and how they can achieve their definition. My understanding may be completely different to yours and that is perfectly fine. I don’t want you to read this and start to think that you need to do these things in order to be a success. These are the only things I feel that I (big emphasis on me) need to do in order to feel like I have achieved something.
I accidently made life a little harder for myself. I’m so determined to be successful that I keep adding things to my “Things I Need to Do to Be Successful” list (This is an imaginary list which I just made real by giving it a name). I am not even sure I can do them all together yet I can’t stop making the list so much longer and complicated. However I am pretty determined to not let another academic year go to waste.
“Things I Need To Do To Be Successful” List
- Be in Education
The first thing I wanted to do was Start College again. I obviously couldn’t do this during July since it was summer so I pushed it to the side. (I pushed it so hard that I forgot to apply until a week before college was due to start but I got in so yeah. Honestly don’t apply late if you plan on going to college as you may not get a place. I was just extremely lucky and I even doubted I would get a place as my enrolment letter came 2 weeks later). I am extremely happy and proud to being education once again but I don’t think I will truly be a success until I actually pass this year. Fingers crossed!
- Have a Job
This was actually the hardest to achieve. I honestly spent 7 months looking for one. I did loads voluntary work and attended interviews and trainings. I just couldn’t get a job! It was the most frustrating thing. I felt like utter crap because lets me honest, rejection hurts. Fortunately, I didn’t give up and now I work part time at a subways that’s local too my college. (Lesson learnt: Don’t give up! You never know when you’ll achieve what you’re aiming for.
- Start Writing
I love English and I’m probably going to study English for the rest of my life. Ever since I was in year 10 (15 years old), I wanted to write a novel. (It was 2012 and I wanted to write about the end of the world. Never did though.) I started a blog in 2014 in order to improve my non-fiction skills; little did I know it’s my fiction skill that needs improving. I have started to write consistently now and it makes me feel so happy and accomplished.
- Learn Basic Housewife Skills
I’m Asian and in my family it is necessary to have house wife skills. I should know how to cook Asian food (and smell like curry because I’ll be spending an awful lot of time in the kitchen). I should be able to iron a whole basket of clothes, perfectly. The house should be spotless like a show room (What my mum says). If you can’ do these things then you’re a disgrace to the family. You can’t even miss one skill. (I can cook Asian food but I can cook yet I’m still a disgrace).
- Attend Events and Places
I want to travel and meet new people (even though I do get to meet a lot of different people while working). I want to attend events and participate in so many things. I find so beautiful just going to an art exhibition and noticing other’s master pieces. It’s always so nice to participate in people’s happiness, congratulating them in their achievement.
